Marketing consent

The sentence you tick

The Free plan of Counter Club is provided in return for a marketing consent. At sign-up, and again if a lapsed account returns to Free, you are shown an unticked box with this sentence beside it, exactly as written here:

I agree to receive marketing from Not a Chain and its partners about business growth and advertising services, by email and phone. Unsubscribe any time.

The words "its partners" are a link to our partners page, which names them. You must tick the box to use the Free plan. The paid plans do not show the box and carry no marketing consent.

What it means

Not a Chain and the partners named on the partners page may contact you, the shop owner, by email and by phone, including recorded or automated voice calls, about services that help a business grow or advertise. We do not send marketing by text message. The consent covers you as a business contact. It does not cover your members, whose details are never used for this.

What we record

The exact sentence shown and its version number, the time, your IP address and browser, and how the consent was given (sign-up, a lapsed account returning to Free, or the Account page after a withdrawal). We keep this record so we can show what you agreed to and when.

How to withdraw

Any of these works:

  • Press Withdraw marketing consent on the Account page of your dashboard.
  • Press the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
  • Reply "stop" to any marketing email.
  • Say "stop" on a call.
  • Email hello@notachain.com.au from the address on your account.

Withdrawal is recorded the moment it happens and passed to the partners, who stop. Where a partner cannot be told straight away, we keep trying until the stop is confirmed on their side.

What withdrawal does to a Free account

The consent is the price of Free. If you withdraw while on Free, marketing stops straight away and the free plan runs until the current Melbourne month is out. To carry on past that, choose Regulars or Local Favourite from Pricing, or tick the consent again on your Account page; every member and stamp is kept either way. Do neither and the Free plan ends with the month. A paid account is unaffected by withdrawal because it never carried the consent.

Your members are separate

A member's consent is a different thing: the texted code they confirmed on your join page, and, for email, the link they pressed. It is theirs, it covers your shop only, and they withdraw it by their opt-out link or a STOP reply. Nothing on this page touches it.
