Counter Club vs Loopy Loyalty

Loopy Loyalty puts the card in Apple or Google Wallet and covers several sites, with no SMS or email. Counter Club texts and emails the club, priced in AUD.

Counter Club is made by the Not a Chain team, so this comparison is our own. Every fact about another product links to that product's own page.

The verdict

Loopy Loyalty and Counter Club both skip the customer app, but they put the card in different places. Loopy issues a pass for Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, reaches customers with lock-screen and location messages, covers up to ten locations on its top plan, and lets you import and export customers. It has no built-in SMS or email. Counter Club keeps the card on the customer's mobile number, has no Wallet pass, no import and no export, and sends email and text campaigns to the club at a flat price in Australian dollars. If a Wallet pass and push messages are what you want, choose Loopy. If you want to text or email your regulars from the same tool, choose Counter Club.

Pass or phone number

A Wallet pass is something the customer can see on their own phone, and Loopy says its location-based messages appear on the lock screen when a customer is near one of your locations. That is Loopy's strength, and Counter Club has nothing like it. A Counter Club member has no card to look at; the count lives on your Members page, and at the counter they say their mobile number or first name.

The trade runs the other way on reach. A push message only reaches someone who still has the pass in their wallet, and Loopy's messaging page is clear that it works "without email, SMS or extra tools". A Counter Club text goes to the mobile the member confirmed when they joined, and an email goes to members who gave an address and confirmed it. If the reason you want a loyalty tool is to say "the mangoes are in" to a few hundred people on a Friday, the channel matters more than the card.

Worked numbers

A cafe with 250 members that wants to text the club twice a month sends 500 texts. Loopy has no SMS of its own, so those texts would need a separate service at that service's price, on top of Loopy's $25 Starter plan. On Counter Club, the same 500 texts fit inside Local Favourite's 2,000 campaign messages for A$69 a month, with no charge per text and no GST.

A cafe that is happy with push messages and never wants to text compares Loopy Starter at $25 against Counter Club Regulars at A$24. That is close to level, but Loopy's figure carries no currency label, so confirm what you will actually be billed before you count on it. For that cafe the choice comes down to Wallet passes and push against email campaigns.

A three-shop bakery is a different case. Loopy Growth covers three locations for $69 a month. Counter Club is built for one shop, with one card, one members list and one login, and lists no multi-site features. One worked example priced across nine tools, Loopy and Counter Club among them, is on the loyalty card apps page.

Getting started with an existing list

Loopy can import existing customers and issue them cards through Make, and you can export your data any time. Counter Club does neither, on purpose: every member types their own number and confirms a code, which is how the product knows each person agreed to hear from you. The cost of that rule is real. A shop with a paper list or a spreadsheet of regulars starts Counter Club at zero and asks people to scan at the counter. Switching regulars from paper stamp cards covers the first weeks.

Where Loopy Loyalty is the better choice

  • You want customers to carry a pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
  • You want lock-screen and location-based messages that cost nothing per send.
  • You run more than one location: Growth covers 3 and Ultimate covers 10.
  • You want to load an existing customer list, or keep the option to export your data. Counter Club offers neither.
  • You want more than one card design. Counter Club runs a single card.
  • You want unlimited customers on the cheapest plan. Counter Club's Regulars plan holds 500 members.
  • You would rather pay yearly. Counter Club bills monthly only.

Questions

Is Loopy Loyalty priced in Australian dollars?

Its pricing page shows the dollar sign with no currency code and no GST note, so we cannot say. Check the currency at checkout before comparing it with an AUD price.

Can Loopy Loyalty send texts or emails?

Its messaging page says messages reach customers "without email, SMS or extra tools", meaning push and location messages to the Wallet pass. Its homepage mentions that Zapier can send an email when a customer enrols, which is a connection to another tool rather than campaigns inside Loopy.

Does Counter Club have an Apple or Google Wallet pass?

No. The card is the member's mobile number, and the stamp count is on your Members page. There is no pass, no customer-side screen and no push notification.

Can I import my customers into Counter Club?

No. There is no import and no form to add a number by hand. Members join from your QR or link and confirm their own mobile with a code, which is the consent behind every campaign you send. The reasons are set out in which customer numbers your shop may text.

How we checked

Loopy Loyalty's plans, messaging and import options were read on its own site in October 2026. Its prices carry no currency code and no GST note, so they are shown exactly as published. Counter Club's facts come from our own pricing and help pages.
