Account and sign-in

Confirming your email address

Why the welcome email asks you to confirm, what is held back until you do, and how to get a new link.

After sign-up we send a welcome email. The link inside it opens a page with a Confirm my email button; press it while logged in and your address is confirmed. Until you do, the Account page shows your email as not confirmed yet.

Confirming matters for two things. Sign-in links go to this address, so a wrong or unconfirmed address can lock you out if you forget your password. And the notice that your password was changed goes only to a confirmed address, so an unconfirmed one gets no warning. A failed payment shows as a notice in the dashboard rather than by email.

If the welcome email did not arrive, check the folder your mail program hides things in, then ask for a sign-in link from the login page; the link confirms the address when you use it. If the address had never been confirmed before, that first link sign-in also clears the sign-up password, so set a new one under Account afterwards. If the address was typed wrong at sign-up, email hello@notachain.com.au from an address you do have and we will sort it out.

Your members' email addresses are confirmed separately and by them: a member who gives an email on the join page gets their own confirmation link, and campaigns go only to addresses that were confirmed.
