Join at the counter
Joining takes less time than making the coffee
Your join link is printed as a QR code on the Loyalty card page. A customer scans it, types an Australian mobile, taps "Text me a code", enters the six digits, and can add a first name and an email. Then they are in your club. Nobody can be added any other way.
What the customer sees
The page is headed "Join" followed by your shop name. Under it: how many stamps earn the reward and what the reward is, straight from your settings. One box for a mobile. After the code is confirmed, two optional boxes for a first name and an email, and a Join button. Once they press it, a line tells them to show their mobile number at the counter to collect stamps.
Why the code matters
The texted code proves the number belongs to the person standing there. That is the consent Counter Club witnesses, and it is why you can message the club later with a clear conscience. Codes last ten minutes, a number can ask for three in an hour, and five wrong guesses burn the code.
- Six digits, ten minutes
- Australian mobiles only
- Three codes per number per hour
Why you cannot add members by hand
There is no form for an owner to type a customer's number in, and there never will be. A list typed from a notebook contains people who never agreed to be texted, and one complaint undoes months of goodwill. Ask regulars to scan instead. Most will, if you ask while you hand over their change.
Sharing the link beyond the counter
The same link is on the Members page under Share your join link, with a Copy link button. Put it in your socials, your email footer, a sign in the window. Anyone who joins from a link goes through the same code and the same rules.
When the club is full
The Free plan holds 50 members. The fifty-first person to try sees that the club is full for now, and nothing is stored. Move to Regulars for 500 or Local Favourite for unlimited, and the page lets people in again.
Questions about the join at the counter
Does the customer need to be on Not a Chain to join?
No. Anyone with an Australian mobile can join your club. The directory and the card are separate.
What if someone joins twice?
The same mobile is the same member. The second join returns the existing record; nothing is duplicated and no stamps are lost.
Can a customer join from overseas or on a landline?
No. The code is texted to an Australian mobile, so the number has to be one. Landlines and overseas numbers are refused on the join page.
Who sends the code?
Counter Club does, so the customer gets it even if your shop has no texting number yet. It says only that it is a verification code.
Put the QR by the till this week
Setting the card takes two minutes. The first fifty members are free, paid for by a marketing consent instead of a card, and the card runs in full from day one.
