Opt-out and privacy

The way out is built into every message

A loyalty club only works if people trust it. So every campaign carries the member's own opt-out link, replying STOP to your number works, and the shop never gets a form to add a number by hand. Opted-out members keep their stamps and are never messaged again by you.

Free costs no money: you agree to receive marketing from Not a Chain and its partners by email and phone, and can unsubscribe any time. What that means

The way out: every campaign text ends with the member's own opt-out link. It opens a page reading "Stop messages from Corner Loaf Bakery" with one "Stop messages" button. Replying STOP works too.

The opt-out link

Each member's link is theirs alone. It opens a page naming your shop with one button: Stop messages. Opening the link changes nothing; pressing the button does. The page then confirms that no more messages will come from your shop and that stamps and rewards are kept.

Replying STOP

On Local Favourite your texts come from your own number, so a reply lands with us. A reply that starts with "STOP", "unsubscribe", "opt out", "no", "cancel", "end" or "quit" opts that number out of your shop, and your shop only.

What the shop sees

The member's row on Members is marked as opted out of messages. The member still appears, still collects stamps, still earns rewards. You cannot undo an opt-out from the dashboard, and joining again from your link does not undo it either, because the same mobile returns the same record. A member who changes their mind asks you, and you email us to clear it.

What we never do

No member is ever added by an owner. No number is texted that did not confirm a code. No member of one shop is contacted by another shop. Member data is never sold or shared for marketing.

  • No hand-added members
  • No texts to unverified numbers
  • No cross-shop contact
  • No sale of member data

Where the data lives

The application runs on Vercel in Sydney and the database on Supabase in Sydney, with daily backups. Texts and numbers go through Vonage and email through Postmark, which may process a message outside Australia to deliver it. Full details are on the privacy page.

Questions about the opt-out and privacy

Does opting out delete the member?

No. It stops messages. Stamps, rewards and the record stay, so a regular who went quiet can still claim a half-filled card. A member who wants their record removed can ask you or email us.

If a member opts out of texts, do they still get email?

No. One opt-out stops both email and text from your shop.

Can I message someone who opted out, just once?

No. The send skips every opted-out member and there is no override.

Put the QR by the till this week

Setting the card takes two minutes. The first fifty members are free, paid for by a marketing consent instead of a card, and the card runs in full from day one.
