For pet shops

A card for the fortnightly bag of kibble

Pet food is a repeat purchase on a fixed cycle. The person who buys a 15 kilo bag every three weeks is exactly the customer a stamp card is for, and exactly the customer online delivery wants to take from you. Counter Club keeps them with a card on their mobile and a bag free after the sixth.

Barkley Street Pet Supplies

One stamp per bag of dry food. Six earn a free bag up to $60.

What gets in the way for pet shops

Online delivery is the competitor

The bag is heavy and the website is easy. A sixth bag free, with the card already on their mobile, is the reason to keep driving to you.

The customer carries a bag, not a card

Hands full, wallet buried. Giving a mobile number across the counter is easier than finding a card.

Seasonal reminders

Flea and tick season, cold nights, the kennel booking before Christmas. A text to the club, on Local Favourite, says it once to people who already shop with you.

A worked example

Pet shop work, with Counter Club

A fictional shop, Barkley Street Pet Supplies, sets the card at 6 stamps for a free bag of the same food, up to $60. One stamp per bag of dry food. The QR is on the counter and on the shelf edge beside the big bags. Within three months 240 households have joined. On Local Favourite with its own texting number, the owner sends one text in October: "Flea and tick season is here. Club members get the vet-brand treatments at 10% off this week." Twenty-six come in during the week. One STOP reply is handled without anyone lifting a finger.

Questions from pet shops

Can the reward be tied to the same product?

Yes, in the reward text, for example "a free bag of the same food, up to $60". You check the member's row when the code appears and hand it over.

What about customers with two dogs?

One mobile, one card. Two bags a visit means two stamps if your rule is per bag. The card fills faster, which is the point.

Can I message about grooming or other services?

Any news about your shop goes to the club. Keep it to things a pet owner would want to know, and keep it to about once a month.

Put the QR by the till this week

Setting the card takes two minutes. The first fifty members are free, paid for by a marketing consent instead of a card, and the card runs in full from day one.
